In 1906, the Eastern Star Masonic Home, located on the east edge of Boone, was established to serve members of the Order, Masons, and children. The Home, which housed 20 residents, burned in 1912 and was relocated and rebuilt at its present site in west Boone.

It reopened in 1914. During 1925, 1936, 1959, 1986, 1992, 2003, and 2005, there were major additions to the main structure. In 1986, a new health center was opened to provide nursing care to 58 residents. During 1988, the Home’s first independent duplex was completed. Today, there are 33 duplex units ranging in size from 950 to 1,370 square feet. In 2002, the Home's health center became certified to provide Medicare/skilled care. A 25 unit,
certified, assisted living wing, Courtyard Terrace, opened in 2003 and an 18 bed Alzheimer's unit, Hearth Stone, opened in 2005.
