- Courtyard Terrace
Assisted living is an independent lifestyle with the availability of assistance in areas of personal care and daily support services. Depending upon individual tenant needs, support services can include personal care services such as help with bathing, dressing, grooming, and medication administration. Individual units are designed to maintain tenant independence and insure aging with dignity, privacy, and respect.

 |
|
|
| |
An assisted living tenant criterion means that individuals must be independently mobile, eat independently, and be able to transfer independently or with assistance of only one person. Tenants must be able to dress/undress independently or be willing to accept direction. They must be able to manage incontinence problems, with some assistance if necessary.
An assisted living facility is not a nursing home. People who live in assisted living do not require nursing home care; they are not dependent on staff for their total care needs. Individuals who live in Courtyard Terrace have the assurance of first priority for admittance into any of the other levels of care offered by the Eastern Star Masonic Home when that level of care is required.

Independent living duplexes are available for single individuals or couples who want to maintain their independence while being a part of a retirement community. Units range in size from 950 to 1,370 square feet with a single or double attached garage. Each unit has two bedrooms, a kitchen, living room, bath, and attached garage.
Persons living in these units have priority status for entering the Home’s other levels of care. Duplexes are “sold” to individuals or couples and a buy back provision is included in the contract.

The Home provides two levels of residential care – I and II. Residents in Residential I are self-ambulatory. They may require nursing supervision, nursing intervention, and assistance with medications, but they require no assistance with eating or dressing. Level II is for residents who may be experiencing difficulty with ambulation and may need assistance dressing. They may be exhibiting initial stages of dementia, but they do not require the most intense services of the Home’s health center. All rooms in the residential area are private and there is 24-hour nursing supervision.Staying active is an important aspect of a healthy mind and body. |

The Home’s 58-bed health center is for individuals who require 24-hour nursing supervision. All beds in the health center are dually certified for Medicare/Medicaid skilled care. The health center has 48 private and 5 semi-private rooms and is staffed 24 hours by professional nurses and certified nurse aides.
It is comforting to know that as one’s health requirements change, appropriate levels of care are available without having to move to another facility. For health center applications, contact: |
